The base roster includes 21 playable characters, with 3 additional characters (SSGSS Goku, SSGSS Vegeta & Android 21) being unlockable through gameplay and a further 8 being released as paid downloadable content (DLC). Another wave of 6 paid downloadable characters, known as "FighterZ Pass 2", was released on January 31, 2019, while the rest of its DLC fighters will be released on the later months. Android 21 is a new character exclusive to the game, designed by series creator Akira Toriyama.
